Three apple and five spice tagine

Here is a 100% vegetarian tagine for lovers of baked apples, spices and vanilla. Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it's an excellent dessert.

Easy and quick to prepare, this tagine is an ideal fall and winter dessert.

Ingredients for 4 persons :

  • 2 apples Braeburn
  • 2 Boskoop apples
  • 2 Elstar apples
  • 40 g salted butter
  • 100 g of cane sugar
  • 1⁄2 tsp. coffee of five spices
  • 1 vanilla pod.

Peel the apples, cut them in half, core them and cut them into thick slices.

Cut the butter into cubes and divide them in the tagine.

Add the apples, mixing the varieties.

Mix the sugar and the five spices, pour over the apples.

Scrape the seeds from the vanilla and add them. Mix. Pour in 20 cl of water. Cover and cook over very low heat for 1 hour 30 minutes, checking the liquid level.

Serve hot or warm with a scoop of ice cream.
